Factors Affecting The Performance Of Female Entrepreneurs In Small And Medium Enterprises In Kawempe Division, Uganda (issue 2)

The study sought to examine the factors affecting the performance of female entrepreneurs in small and medium
enterprises in Kawempe Division. The study was a cross-sectional and correlational survey design. It involved 121
female entrepreneurs sampled using simple and purposive random sampling. Data were collected using a survey
questionnaire. This data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequencies, means and standard deviations. The
study objectives were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient index. The findings revealed that demographic,
environmental, and training factors had a positive significant effect on the performance of female entrepreneurs. It
was concluded that socio-demographic factors have a highly positive and significant relationship with the performance
of female entrepreneurs in Kawempe Division. It concludes also that the better the socio-demographics, the higher
these females would perform better. From the study findings and conclusions, it was recommended that if female
entrepreneurship performance is to be improved on in Kawempe Division responsible agencies like private sector
foundations should carry out sensitization programs to encourage females to engage in entrepreneurial business.
