IMPACT OF AUTMATED TELLER MACHINES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF COMMERCIAL BANKS IN UGANDA. A Case Study of Equity Bank Kyengera Branch (Issue 8)
This study was carried out with the purpose of investigate to the impact of
Automation Teller Machines on the performance of commercial banks in Uganda. The
study objectives included examining the performance of commercial banks in
Uganda, to investigate the importance of automated teller machines on the
performance of commercial banks in Uganda and to find out a relationship between
automated teller machines and the performance of commercial banks in Uganda. The
study used qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze the data collected,
data analysis was done through transforming information got to a more
representative way, simple frequency tables, percentages and graphs were employed
to facilitate analysis. The research was carried out in Equity Bank Kyengera Branch,
and as such the study population included the bank staff and clients of the branch.
Financial performance and that it offers a variety of loan products and services. The
findings indicated that customers were safe with the automated system of banking.
It was also revealed in table13 that customers access services at any time. The
following recommendations were suggested; More money should be dispensed
through the ATM, so as to save the public from incurring transport costs visiting
banking halls. Training session should be arranged to enable ignorant customers. On
many occasions the system breaks down comes as a result of wrong entries made by
customers while using automated machines. Banking services should be extended to
the villages so as to tap more customers and increase on the profitability of the
bank. Besides, it will help to beat up competition.
