Influence Of Instructional Supervision On Teachers’ Planning And Preparation For Teaching In Secondary Schools: A Case Of Kisoro District, Uganda

The purpose of the study was to establish the influence of instructional supervision on teachers’ planning and
preparation for teaching in secondary schools: A Case of Kisoro District, Uganda. The researcher used
questionnaires and interview schedules as major instruments of data collection. The researcher used a descriptive survey method as the research design whereby both qualitative and
quantitative research methods were appropriate. Qualitative method was used to collect, present and interpret and
analyze descriptive data while quantitative method was used to analyze numerical data which was reported inform
of table, figures, frequencies and percentages. A total of one hundred and two (102) classroom teachers and
seventeen (17) supervisors responded and returned the questionnaires which were duly analysed. The study
concluded that instructional supervision of teacher’s planning and preparation for teaching had an influence on
the teaching effectiveness. Based on the findings of this study to establish how instructional supervision influence
teaching effectiveness in secondary schools, it was recommended that teachers should improve on their planning
and preparation for teaching, teaching methodology and the assessment of their students.
