Influence Of Social Media On Children Morality In Uganda, A Case Of Kampala Central Division

This study investigated the influence of social media on children's morality in Kampala Central Division, Uganda.
The study aimed to assess both the positive and negative impacts of social media on children's moral development,
as well as to identify the challenges and measures necessary to mitigate its negative effects. Data were collected
through surveys administered to 50 respondents, including parents, educators, and social workers, using both
qualitative and quantitative methods. The results indicated that social media contributed positively to children's
social development by enhancing communication, providing health information, and improving problem-solving
skills. However, concerns were raised about the negative effects on children's moral development, with 70% of
respondents acknowledging that social media posed morale challenges, such as exposure to inappropriate content
and cyberbullying. The study concluded that while social media offers numerous benefits, its potential harm to
children's morality cannot be overlooked. It is recommended that efforts be made to increase digital literacy,
enhance parental involvement in monitoring children's online activities, and promote positive social media
content. Additionally, policies should be implemented to ensure a safer online environment for children.
