Workplace Conflict On Employee Efficiency In Organization. A case Of Nytil Uganda Limited

This study investigated the impact of workplace conflict on employee productivity at NYTIL Uganda Limited,
focusing on interpersonal, intergroup, and intra-group conflicts. Using a quantitative approach, primary data were
collected from 250 employees through structured questionnaires. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed
using SPSS and STATA to evaluate the effect of different conflict types on employee productivity. The results
revealed that interpersonal conflict had a statistically significant positive impact on productivity, with a coefficient
of 0.5885 (p = 0.000), indicating that well-managed interpersonal conflict could enhance productivity by fostering
healthy competition and innovation. Conversely, intergroup conflict showed a negative but statistically insignificant
effect on productivity, with a coefficient of -0.1148 (p = 0.288), suggesting that its impact may be inconsistent or
context-dependent. Similarly, intra-group conflict exhibited a positive but statistically insignificant relationship with
productivity, with a coefficient of 0.1649 (p = 0.144), implying that its influence might vary based on team
dynamics and conflict resolution practices. The findings underscore the importance of managing interpersonal
conflict constructively to leverage its productivity-enhancing potential while mitigating the potentially disruptive
effects of intergroup and intra-group conflicts. This study highlights the need for organizations to implement
effective conflict management strategies, promote open communication, and foster collaboration to optimize
employee productivity. The study provides valuable insights into the nuanced roles of workplace conflict in
organizational performance and recommends targeted interventions for enhancing efficiency
