Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Preparation

• Language: English (clear, grammatically correct, and concise).
• Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx only).
• Font: Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.
• Margins: 1-inch margins on all sides.
• Length: 3,000–8,000 words excluding references.
• Figures/Tables: Numbered sequentially and referenced within the text.
• Plagiarism: Papers must have less than 15% similarity index.

2. Article Structure

• Title Page: Include title, author(s), institution(s), and contact email.
• Abstract: 150–250 words summarizing the study's objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
• Keywords: 4–6 relevant keywords for indexing.
• Main Sections: Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
• References: Follow APA 7th Edition citation style.

3. Submission Process

Authors can submit their manuscripts via the online portal or email them to: publications@miu.ac.ug

Upon receipt, a confirmation email will be sent within 48 hours. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial screening for quality and compliance with journal standards before being forwarded for peer review.

4. Peer Review Process

MIU Journals employ a double-blind peer review system where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Reviews focus on originality, contribution to knowledge, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, and clarity of presentation.

Authors will be notified of the decision (acceptance, minor/major revisions, or rejection) within approximately 2–4 weeks.

5. Ethics & Copyright

• Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere.
• Authors retain copyright but grant MIU non-exclusive publishing rights.
• Proper acknowledgment and citation of all sources are mandatory.
• All research must comply with ethical standards for human or animal subjects.

6. Article Processing Charges

There is no submission or processing fee. However, if a paper is accepted after peer review, an article processing fee of UGX 50,000 (or USD 15) is applicable to cover editorial and publication costs.

7. Final Checklist Before Submission

• The manuscript is written in English and proofread.
• The title page includes all author details and affiliations.
• Figures, tables, and references follow MIU's formatting requirements.
• The abstract and keywords are clearly provided.
• The document is submitted as a single editable Word file (.doc/.docx).
