Publication Fees
MIU Journals are fully open access: every article is free to read the day it is published. Editorial and production costs are covered by a single article processing charge (APC), payable only after your manuscript is accepted.

Send your manuscript through the online portal. There is no charge to submit.

Peer review
Your paper is screened by the editors and sent for double-blind peer review.

Acceptance & APC
The decision is emailed from editor@miu.ac.ug. If accepted, the email includes the payment account details for your APC.

Your article is published with a Crossref DOI, free for anyone to read.

Frequently asked questions
Do I pay anything if my paper is rejected?
No. Submission and peer review are free. The APC is charged only for accepted articles.
Which category applies to a paper with several authors?
The category is set by the corresponding author — the author who submits the manuscript and handles correspondence with the editorial office.
How do I prove I am MIU staff or a graduate student?
Submit using your official MIU email address. The editorial office may also ask for a staff or student ID before confirming the MIU rate.
How and when do I pay?
After review, the editorial decision is emailed to you from editor@miu.ac.ug. If your paper is accepted, that email includes the account details for paying the APC. Pay only into the accounts provided in that official email. For any questions, write to the same address.
Are readers ever charged?
Never. All MIU Journals articles are open access and free to read, download and share.
