Abstract
This study investigated the effect of employee motivation on organizational performance at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). The dimensions of employee motivation examined included financial incentives, recognition and praise, career development opportunities, and working environment quality. A cross-sectional survey design was used, with data collected from 200 KCCA employees through structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis were employed for data analysis. Findings showed a significant positive relationship between employee motivation and organizational performance (r = 0.701, p < 0.01). Regression analysis revealed that career development (β = 0.318, p < 0.001), financial incentives (β = 0.291, p < 0.001), and working environment (β = 0.263, p < 0.01) were significant predictors of organizational performance, collectively explaining 65.8% of the variance (R² = 0.658). The study recommends that KCCA management invest in structured career development pathways, competitive remuneration packages, and improved physical working environments to enhance employee motivation and drive superior organizational performance.
