Credit Monitoring Policy And Its Impact On Financial Performance Of Microfinance Institutions In Uganda. A Case Of Pride Microfinance Katwe Branch

Abstract

The study aimed at credit monitoring policy and its impact on financial performance of microfinance institutions in uganda with a case of pride microfinance Katwe branch. The study utilized a mixed-methods research design to capture the depth and breadth of the research question. This approach involved the integration of qualitative data, obtained through interviews and qualitative surveys, and quantitative data from financial reports and structured questionnaires. The Pride Microfinance Katwe Branch was chosen as the primary case study location due to its prominence and significance within the microfinance landscape of Uganda. The selection was based on the branch's geographical representation, economic diversity in the Katwe area, and relevance to the study's objectives. From the findings, there was a positive strong significant associative relationship between credit monitoring policy and financial performance in Pride Microfinance Uganda Limited (r = 0.980, Sig= 0.000). The positive correlation implied that the positive change in Credit monitoring policy resulted into a corresponding positive change in financial performance in Pride Microfinance Uganda limited a and vice versa. Therefore, the results of the study confirmed that there was a strong positive strong statistical relationship between Credit monitoring policy and Financial performancein Pride Microfinance. The study recommends that the management of Pride Microfinance Uganda limited must be keen not to set up credit monitoring policies that can negatively affect the profits of the Micro Finance Institution. Pride microfinance Uganda limited and other Micro Finance institutions should adopt and implement stringent credit monitoring policies as it would result in a significant increase in financial performance. Microfinance institutions should endeavor to advance more on monitoring practices as a way of improving their financial performance and profitability.
