Non-Governmental Organisations and Women Empowerment Acase Study of Nansana Municipality Wakiso District

Abstract

The study aimed at the impact of non-governmental organisations and women empowerment and it was guided by the following objectives: To assess the relationship between NGO and women empowerment in Nansana, to establish the contribution brought by NGOs in Nanasana municipality Wakiso district and to examine the challenges affecting NGOs in Women empowerment among the women in Nanasana Municipality Wakiso district. Random sampling was to be used where two parishes was to be chosen to represent the six areas e.g., kilaka, Muyenga and for convenient purposed, a sample of 60 respondents was used for interviews and answering of questionnaires. Data collected was analyzed and the responses on the subjects was categorized in frequency counts and score tables with varying percentages calculated. Interpretations and conclusions drawn according to the number of occurrences of each item which information presented in tables. From the findings, NGOS had great positive contribution in Nanasana like providing clean water through put up water source in many places, defending human rights by helping those whose rights have been abused, in education they helped in providing leaning material in different areas to students The government should build more technical institutions in the area, because there is only one which accommodates few students.
